After studying law at Utrecht University, Maarten worked at another law firm for five years. He has now been a lawyer at Van Veen Advocaten for more than ten years. Here, he supports the corporate law, insolvency law and property law departments.

Maarten mainly serves SME entrepreneurs, directors, creditors and individuals. Among other things, he is experienced in drafting and reviewing agreements. He advises on directors’ liability and on the sale, purchase, letting and tenancy of residential properties. He also assists creditors in recovering payments and advises them on their options in the event of bankruptcy.

Maarten prioritises the client’s interests above all else. He therefore always explores whether a case can be settled out of court.

“Maarten is an approachable lawyer with a calm demeanor. He knows how to analyze difficult issues well to then clearly articulate disputes and (legal) solutions. Maarten has a dry sense of humor and easily connects with people. He takes a no-nonsense approach to handling cases, and his clients appreciate this.”
