A death involves a lot. Various matters must be arranged within a short period of time. Consider, for example, the funeral, mapping the value of the deceased’s assets and the extent of his debts. The estate must then be settled. Goods may need to be sold to pay debts. The remaining assets are distributed. What all falls into the estate and who gets what? But also: is it wise to accept the estate? Am I entitled to a legitimate portion? And: what if the executor and the heir(s) are not on the same page? Should you experience difficulties in settling an estate, we can assist you as a lawyer or mediator.

You may choose to hire a mediator to handle the settlement of the estate or its consequences. Within the Inheritance Law Section, we have a mediator who specializes in settling estates. Our mediator guides you from start to finish and records the agreements for you in writing.

If mediation does not offer a solution or if you want unilateral advice, you can hire one of our lawyers. Unilateral advice can also be given in the background if the settlement of the estate is arranged by an executor, estate notary or liquidator. Our lawyers specialize in inheritance law and can provide you with sound and clear advice. Our lawyers will guide you through the entire process and, if necessary, can intervene in proceedings. Your interests come first.

It is important that you get proper guidance and information about your rights and obligations. Our mediator is registered in the register for estate mediators. In addition, the section has knowledge of the notarial practice. Our lawyers are also registered in the Register of Jurisdictions in Inheritance Law of the Netherlands Bar Association.
