After his law studies at Utrecht University, Richard first completed his military service and then worked as a claims handler, the last two years of which in the fraud department. However, the legal profession continued to appeal and he has been working as a lawyer for Van Veen Advocaten since 2001.

He is part of the practice groups for labour law (including public service law) and the law of persons and family law as well as continuing to be engaged in non-life insurance law. He is listed as a chartered mediator with the Netherlands Federation for Mediators (MfN) and in that capacity, he helps parties find a solution without court intervention. Richard’s clients include private individuals, insurers and owners of SMEs.

Richard is an energetic and accessible lawyer who works hard for his clients. Richard doesn’t like a fuss; he prefers clear and transparent advice. He is able to listen to his clients’ wishes and subsequently determines their position and the options. Thanks to his sense of humour and openness, clients feel quickly at ease with Richard. He’s right behind the client and together they determine what steps to take. He does so promptly and accurately.
