Abdullah started his career as a lawyer at the largest law firm in the Netherlands at Amsterdam's Zuidas business district. He has since returned to the place where he grew up: Ede. His experience with large, often complex cases also comes in handy at Van Veen Advocaten. Abdullah still strives for the highest possible result and likes to act as a committed sparring partner with an eye for the entrepreneur and his organisation.
You could call Abdullah an overachiever. He studied law at Radboud University Nijmegen. After this, he took various legal courses at Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada before (after a selection procedure) obtaining his master's degree in "Business & Law" at Radboud University. During this dual master, theory is linked to practice. During this period, Abdullah gained practical experience at the national and international offices of a leading law firm at the Zuidas. He then worked for four years as a lawyer at the largest law firm in the Netherlands.
Abdullah specialises in handling and resolving (complex) disputes within contract and corporate law. He advises and litigates on commercial contracts, damages and general terms and conditions. He also assists clients in resolving conflicts surrounding a legal entity, such as disputes between shareholders, deadlocks in decision-making, takeover disputes, conflicts with suppliers or customers and liability of (former) directors, supervisory directors and shareholders. His clients - including (family) businesses from the agri & food sector - can also come to him with questions on, for instance, control and decision-making within the company, appointment, suspension and dismissal of directors or supervisory directors, shareholder agreements and setting up legal structures for employee participations or business succession.
Abdullah's strength lies in practically and personally guiding an entrepreneur through the legal process, so that the entrepreneur mainly has time left to do business. As a result, he is often used by his clients as a regular in-house lawyer.
Abdullah is hard on the substance and soft on the relationship. You quickly develop a good relationship with him because he is genuinely interested in both the company and the person behind it. One-on-one, Abdullah is calm and weighs his words carefully, but in court he comes off as sharp and can improvise when needed. Thus (as a former debating champion) he always has a well-written and argued story and does not let himself be swayed by the opposing party. In Abdullah, you will find a reliable sparring partner who is there for you.
